SK Telecom (NYSE:SKM, hereinafter referred to as “SKT”) today announced that it has been named a Clarivate Top 100 Global Innovator™ 2021 on February 23, 2021. The tenth edition of the annual report from Clarivate Plc (NYSE:CLVT), a global leader in providing trusted information and insights to accelerate the pace of innovation, identifies companies at the pinnacle of the global innovation landscape by measuring the ideation culture that produces patents.

Clarivate assessed that SKT is promoting ceaseless innovations and technology development in the field of telecommunications, and is showing global influence.

Recently, SKT has been actively securing patents in mobile communication systems, while also focusing on the development of technologies in areas including 5G, artificial intelligence, media and security. Over the past five years, the company has registered a total of 2,638 patents including 600 standard essential patents. Moreover, through proactive activities to manage standard essential patents, SKT has generated over KRW 30 billion in royalty revenue during the same period.
